Alyssa Bean, a senior at Poway High, won her qualifying heat of the 400 meters in 55.48 seconds at the CIF State Championships at Buchanan High's Veterans Memorial Stadium in Clovis, Calif. Bean also placed second in her preliminary race in the 200 meters in a wind-aided 24.36 and helped Poway also advance to the final in the 4x400-meter relay by finishing second in their heat in 3:52.21.
